Ratboys Announce Deluxe Edition of 'Singin’ to an Empty Chair' Featuring Collaborations

Ratboys are gearing up to release a deluxe edition of their acclaimed album, Singin’ to an Empty Chair, on September 25, 2023, under New West Records. This upcoming version will include a collection of covers from their original tracks, reimagined by notable bands including PUP, Wild Pink, Ducks Ltd., Bad Bad Hats, and Free Range.

In a twist, the band also included their own rendition of the Marked Men’s song “Fix My Brain,” which was recorded for SiriusXM earlier this year. Julia Steiner, the band's lead singer and guitarist, expressed her excitement about the project, stating, "We thought it’d be fun to cover one of our favorite songs and then to ask some of our closest friends and biggest inspirations in music to put their spin on some of our new songs. It’s a total trip and such an honor to hear the album songs transformed into something new entirely, and we can’t say thank you enough to our pals for making it happen."

Alongside the announcement, Ratboys premiered their first NPR Tiny Desk Concert, where they showcased a mix of their older hits and new tracks, performing “Black Earth, WI” along with “Penny in the Lake” and “What’s Right?” Fans can look forward to upcoming tour dates where the band will hit various cities across the UK, Europe, and North America, sharing the stage with Smidley, the solo project of Foxing's Conor Murphy.
