Strategic Makkah Pact Aims to Foster Regional Peace and Unity

In a significant move for regional stability, the Makkah Pact has been heralded as a critical development by Pakistani officials, including Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan. During a seminar at the University of Lahore titled 'Makkah Pact and New Geometry of Power', they emphasized the importance of this agreement in reinforcing peace through deterrence among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye.

Minister Iqbal outlined the necessity of an 'economic reset' in Pakistan to complement its recent defence and diplomatic victories. He warned that without a robust economic foundation, these achievements could lose their impact over time. Iqbal underscored the need for the nation to focus on internal stability and economic strength, stating, 'In a changing world, resetting and adapting to new realities is essential for survival.'

Speaker Ahmad Khan added that the Makkah Pact symbolizes strength and unity among the participating nations, aiming to create a peaceful regional environment. Former foreign minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri noted that the pact resonates with the sentiments of the broader Muslim population across various cities. Other speakers, including former national security adviser Nasir Janjua and former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, echoed the sentiment that the shifting global power dynamics necessitate greater regional cooperation for stability.
