Tetris Company Denounces Unauthorized Use in Controversial White House Games

The Tetris Company has publicly distanced itself from a newly launched White House arcade featuring the iconic game, emphasizing that it did not authorize the use of its imagery for the project. Released on September 4, 2026, the online arcade includes a game titled 'Build the Wall,' which has drawn significant criticism for its controversial themes.

In a statement to AFP, Tetris clarified, "The Tetris Company was not involved in the creation of 'Build the Wall' and did not authorize or license the Tetris brand or intellectual property for the game." The company expressed its commitment to unity, stating, "At Tetris, we believe in the power of connection and bringing people together, not dividing them," while also highlighting their seriousness regarding copyright infringement.

The White House's arcade page was met with backlash, as it included several games that many found racially charged. Critics pointed out that the games, like 'Flappy Bill,' trivialize serious political issues. Amerika Garcia Grewal, co-director of the Frontera Federation, voiced her disgust, stating, "Makes me sick. They've been playing games with people's lives for years, now they've made a video game of what they're doing". The White House has maintained that these games are a way to celebrate the President's achievements ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
