Tiger Woods Faces Five-Year License Suspension After Reckless Driving Plea

Tiger Woods has accepted a no contest plea to a reckless driving charge stemming from a rollover crash near his Florida residence earlier this year. The plea, which will be treated as a conviction in court, resulted in a five-year suspension of the golf legend's driving license.

The incident occurred in March when Woods' SUV collided with a truck, leading to the vehicle rolling onto its side. Although initial suspicions pointed to driving under the influence, a Breathalyzer test returned negative results; however, Woods refused to undergo a urine test. His admission to deputies that he was distracted by his phone at the time of the accident further complicated matters.

Woods, watched by his girlfriend Vanessa Trump during the court proceedings, maintained a low profile by not addressing the media after the hearing. In addition to the reckless driving charge, he also pleaded no contest to refusing to submit to testing, incurring court costs as a penalty.

This incident marks another chapter in Woods' tumultuous career, which has been marred by health issues, previous crashes, and struggles with pain medication. Following this latest event, he took a leave from competitive golf, having previously stepped away after a crash in 2009.
