Tom Ducarouge Unveils Striking Pop-Up Furniture for New Balance

By Editor • September 8, 2026 • 1 min read

Industrial designer Tom Ducarouge has crafted an impressive collection of pop-up furniture, specifically tailored for New Balance's Marseille Running House. This innovative space, created to support participants of the Marseille-Cassis half-marathon, features utilitarian pieces that blend functionality with striking design.

Design Elements

The furniture is constructed from 25mm Baltic Birch plywood, showcasing a smooth roundover profile on its edges. Accentuating the aesthetic are 3mm steel or aluminum brackets and exposed socket-head cap screws, which add a modern touch to the overall look.

Inspired by Nature

One standout feature of Ducarouge's design is the mountain-like profile cut into the legs of the tables. This unique element pays homage to the Col de la Gineste, a limestone pass that runners traverse during their journey from Marseille to Cassis, creating a direct connection between the furniture and the local landscape.

As the pop-up event comes to a close, it is hoped that these well-crafted pieces will find a permanent home in a New Balance store, continuing to inspire runners and design enthusiasts alike.
