USS Abraham Lincoln Crew Enjoys Shore Leave in Pattaya After Record Deployment

After an arduous nine-month deployment, approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines from the USS Abraham Lincoln descended upon Pattaya, Thailand, on Thursday, eager to experience the vibrant resort city. This port call follows a historic stretch of over 260 days at sea, during which the aircraft carrier played a significant role in the U.S.-Israeli conflict involving Iran.

While the arrival of the crew was largely peaceful, local authorities reported a minor incident involving two sailors who were returned to the ship after a drunken scuffle near Pattaya's bustling nightlife area, Walking Street. Police described the altercation as trivial, with no charges filed as it did not violate Thai law. Overall, law enforcement noted that the visit had been calmer than previous military port calls, much to the relief of local businesses.

Excitement was palpable among the crew members as they stepped off buses laden with luggage. Many took to the streets and shopping areas, including the popular Terminal 21 mall, with high spirits reflecting a much-needed break after the grueling deployment.
