Victor Miller, Creator of Horror Classic, Passes Away at 86

Victor Miller, the visionary screenwriter behind the iconic slasher film "Friday the 13th," has passed away at the age of 86 in Alameda, California. His groundbreaking work in the 1980 film is credited with establishing key themes in horror, particularly the summer camp setting and teenage recklessness.

In a recent interview, Miller revealed that his inspiration stemmed from the success of John Carpenter’s "Halloween," which encouraged him to create a narrative where young adults faced dire consequences. He noted, "The idea for the summer camp came from my instinct that we needed a location where young adults would be cut off from all adult help."">

Although Miller didn't participate in the franchise's numerous sequels, his original creation left an indelible mark on the genre. He is also remembered for his contributions to soap operas, including winning three Daytime Emmy Awards.
