Bangladesh and China Set to Launch Two-Plus-Two Dialogue Soon

Bangladesh's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Humaiun Kobir, announced on August 30, 2026, that the country will initiate a two-plus-two dialogue with China in the near future.
This announcement followed a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen, where they discussed significant projects, including the Teesta River Comprehensive Management and Restoration Project (TRCMRP). Kobir emphasized that preparations for this dialogue are underway, aiming to enhance diplomatic and defense cooperation.
While no specific dates have been established, Kobir indicated that discussions would initially involve State Ministers before progressing to the Foreign Minister level. This move aligns with recent interactions, notably Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to China, where several key initiatives were explored, including the Teesta project and other collaborative ventures.
During the meeting with Ambassador Yao, Kobir reiterated Bangladesh's commitment to the 'One China policy' and highlighted China's vital role as a development partner.
