Bangladesh Eyes Participation in Makkah Defense Pact

Bangladesh is considering joining the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which includes Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye. Humayun Kabir, the recently appointed state minister for foreign affairs, highlighted the growing recognition of Bangladesh in the Muslim world.
Kabir stated, “The matter is being viewed positively,” emphasizing the importance of security agreements among Islamic nations. The Makkah agreement, signed on August 7, aims to enhance collective security and regional stability, with key leaders like Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in attendance.
