Burger King, traditionally celebrated for its iconic Whopper, has taken a bold step into the fried chicken arena with its newly revamped Chicken Nuggets. Under the leadership of president Tom Curtis and head chef Amy Alarcon, who previously worked at Popeyes, the fast-food giant is aiming to elevate its menu offerings.

These new nuggets, described by the chain as made from 100% white meat chicken, feature a crispier golden breading and an improved marinade designed to enhance juiciness. Tasting Table recently got an exclusive preview of these nuggets at Burger King's Miami headquarters, where they were put to the test alongside their predecessors.

Upon arrival, the nuggets presented a uniformity in shape and an inviting golden hue, which made them visually appealing. But the real test was their taste. A bite revealed a surprisingly tender texture combined with a satisfying crispiness. The juiciness of the chicken was a step above Burger King's earlier nuggets, which had often been overlooked.

In addition to the new nuggets, Burger King introduced a special savory sauce intended for a limited time. This unique condiment combines elements of BBQ seasoning, garlic, onion, and black pepper, resembling a creamy cocktail sauce. However, taste testers found the nuggets paired well with existing sauces like sweet & sour and honey mustard.

When comparing the new nuggets to the old ones, the difference was stark. The previous version was criticized for being overly salty and dense, while the new offering boasts a lighter, airier texture and better flavor balance. The transformation is so significant that it has prompted a reconsideration of Burger King's chicken offerings, especially for parents seeking alternatives to McDonald's famous McNuggets.

The new Chicken Nuggets are now a permanent feature on Burger King's menu, available throughout the day. They come in four sizes: 4-piece, 6-piece, 10-piece, and 20-piece, with prices varying by location. Kid's meals will include the smaller sizes, while the larger portions are available as combos with sides and drinks. Each order includes a dipping sauce, and larger orders come with multiple sauces.

For those calorie-conscious, a 10-piece serving contains 520 calories, 80 milligrams of cholesterol, and 32 grams of fat. The nuggets are crafted from boneless chicken breast and rib meat, seasoned with a blend that includes garlic powder, onion powder, and chicken broth.
