Evacuations Ordered as Wildfire Threatens Reno, Nevada

In a rapidly escalating crisis, nearly 90,000 residents near Reno, Nevada, are facing evacuation orders as a large wildfire approaches the city. Initially reported on Saturday morning, the fire has already injured six individuals, including three emergency responders.

Officials have mandated an immediate evacuation for approximately 42,000 people, while an additional 45,000 are advised to prepare to leave. The blaze has burned about 10,500 acres, and as of Sunday evening, it remains completely uncontained.

In response, Governor Joe Lombardo has declared a state of emergency in Washoe County, deploying the National Guard to assist firefighting efforts. Schools in the area will be closed on Monday, and two shelters have been established for those displaced.
