In a surprising turn of events, Ghent University announced the suspension of Nathan Cofnas, the academic who led the plagiarism allegations against the late Jason Arday. Arday, a former Cambridge professor, recently passed away after resigning amid the controversy.
Cofnas, who identifies as a "race realist" and was previously dismissed from his position at Cambridge two years ago, took to social media to share his predicament. He stated, "I was just suspended by Ghent University. They will almost certainly fire me."
The university did not explicitly name Cofnas in their official statement regarding the suspension.
