Government Apologizes for Nighttime Power Outages Amid RLNG Shortages

The government has issued an apology to consumers for recent nighttime electricity outages, which stemmed from a shortage of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG). The Power Division indicated that temporary load management measures of 1.5 to three hours were implemented due to a 3,600MW deficit caused by a delayed RLNG cargo.
Additionally, a drop in generation from the Mangla Dam, estimated at 195MW, exacerbated the situation. To address the demand during peak hours, furnace oil-based power plants were activated.
The Power Division reassured the public that load management would ease once the RLNG cargoes arrive and urged consumers to reduce electricity usage during peak nighttime hours. Notably, daytime electricity supply remains uninterrupted, although certain areas may still experience load management due to losses.
