Canadian distributor h264 has acquired the worldwide sales rights for the film "Where the River Begins" by Colombian-Canadian director Juan Andrés Arango, ahead of its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival (TIFF).

The film, featuring actors Girleza Duave Cerezo, Juan David Junca Linares, and Ana Michell Nama Dumaza, is set to be showcased in TIFF’s Centrepiece section. It tells the poignant story of Yajaira, an Embera mother, who, along with her daughter Maria, is forced to flee their harsh Bogotá neighborhood in search of the Andágueda River.

As they embark on their dangerous journey, they are joined by Jhon, a young gang member harboring secrets. h264 president Jean-Christophe Lamontagne praised the film's ability to resonate broadly, expressing excitement for its international prospects.

Arango, whose previous works include the award-winning "La Playa DC," noted this partnership with h264 has fostered a unique creative collaboration, enhancing the film's development. The project was filmed across various Colombian cities and is co-produced with Norway.
