Jennifer Latour: Capturing Nature's Fleeting Wonders

By Editor • August 12, 2026 • 1 min read

Jennifer Latour, a Vancouver-based artist, is on a quest to immortalize the transient beauty of flora through her captivating sculptural assemblages. Her works, often resembling otherworldly creations, utilize single flowers or clusters that sprout from branches, yet they are as fragile as they are stunning. A gentle breeze can easily scatter their delicate components, making her outdoor installations a challenge to capture.

Latour's journey into this unique art form began during the lockdown, inspired by vivid dreams of oversized flowers intertwined with multiple species. “I had to test out in real life,” she recalls, which led to the creation of her Bound Species series, an exploration of unconventional, ikebana-inspired compositions.

Determined to photograph her art in natural settings, she faced the unpredictability of the wind, which added complexity to her creative process. “It takes so much more patience and time,” she notes, but the satisfaction of a successful arrangement is undeniable.

Currently, her works are featured in exhibitions in Montreal and Mallorca, with plans for future shows and travels to unique locations. Latour aims to continue evolving her practice, connecting the interconnectedness of nature through her enchanting art.
