Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Co-Defendants Set for 2028 Trial

A military judge has scheduled the trial for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind behind the September 11 attacks, for June 5, 2028.
Lieutenant Colonel Michael Schrama's ruling follows the blocking of plea deals that could have spared Mohammed and two co-defendants from the death penalty. The trial has faced significant delays due to legal disputes over evidence collected during their time in CIA custody.
The proceedings will involve military jurors, with the defense beginning their case 60 days after the prosecution concludes. Mohammed’s co-defendants include Walid bin Attash, Mustafa al-Hawsawi, and Ali Abdul Aziz Ali.
