The textile and apparel industry is witnessing a wave of strategic leadership changes as companies aim to enhance their market positioning and customer engagement. Old Navy, a subsidiary of Gap Inc., has named Michael Francis as its new president and CEO, effective November 2. Francis previously held the role of chief customer officer and head of marketing shared services at Old Navy since March 2023. His appointment comes as the brand seeks to build on a multi-year turnaround, focusing on strengthening its marketing strategies and enhancing customer experiences both online and in stores.
Gap Inc. President and CEO Richard Dickson praised Francis for his extensive experience in retail and marketing, noting his proven track record in transforming brands. Under his leadership, Old Navy aims to sharpen its customer focus and cultural relevance. “Old Navy is an iconic American brand with a unique place in the lives of millions of customers,” Francis commented, expressing his commitment to enhancing the brand’s connection with families.
Similarly, Kohl's has made headlines by promoting Arianne Parisi to the newly established role of chief customer officer. This move coincides with the planned departure of chief marketing officer Christie Raymond in September. Parisi, who has served as Kohl’s chief digital officer since 2025, will now oversee marketing, brand, loyalty, and digital commerce as part of an effort to modernize the retailer's omnichannel experience. CEO Michael J. Bender emphasized that this shift is aimed at fostering a cohesive approach across all customer touchpoints.
In the academic sphere, the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) has appointed Kimberly Fasting-Berg as its first chief marketing officer. This strategic role aims to enhance the college’s marketing, branding, and communications efforts, as it seeks to strengthen its global profile and support student success. Fasting-Berg, a SUNY alum, brings a wealth of experience from her tenure at WME Fashion and Condé Nast, where she led marketing for iconic brands such as Vogue and GQ. FIT President Jason Schupbach expressed confidence in Fasting-Berg’s ability to shape the future of the college, especially as it embarks on its Future//Forward initiative.
Meanwhile, Kontoor Brands has appointed C.J. King as the general manager of Helly Hansen North America Sport, effective August 31. King, who previously spent a decade at Arc’teryx, will oversee the brand’s commercial strategy in the competitive U.S. outdoor market. His leadership is expected to bolster Helly Hansen's presence in a sector that is rapidly evolving.
In related news, Veho, a last-mile delivery company, has welcomed Scott Anderson, COO of Chewy, to its board of directors. Anderson’s extensive e-commerce logistics background will aid Veho as it continues to expand its delivery network across the United States. Following a significant growth in its client base, Veho is set to reach over half of the U.S. population through its services.
