In a shocking incident on August 21, 2026, armed assailants abducted more than 60 worshippers from Kpenya Mosque in Nigeria's Niger state during Friday prayers.
According to police spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun, the attackers struck around 2 p.m., targeting both Kpenya and nearby Gidan-Zana villages. While no fatalities were reported, security forces have been deployed for rescue operations.
