Michelin Guide Returns to Las Vegas, Awarding Stars After 17-Year Hiatus

Las Vegas is stepping back into the culinary spotlight as the Michelin Guide has released its first evaluation of the city’s dining scene in 17 years. On August 26, the guide unveiled its "Southwest selection," covering restaurants in Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah.

The prestigious accolade of two Michelin stars was awarded to Restaurant de Joël Robuchon at MGM Grand, making it the standout establishment in Las Vegas and the only restaurant in the entire Southwest region to receive such a distinction. Other notable mentions include Restaurant Guy Savoy at Caesars Palace, é by José Andrés at The Cosmopolitan, and L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon, each earning a single star.

In addition, several eateries were recognized with the Bib Gourmand designation, a nod to high-quality dining at a reasonable price point. In Las Vegas, China Poblano at The Cosmopolitan, Esther’s Kitchen, and YEN Viet Kitchen received this honor. Seventeen more restaurants in the city received "recommended" ratings, showcasing a diverse range of culinary experiences beyond the famed Strip.

This revival of the Michelin Guide in Las Vegas marks a significant moment; the last guide was published in 2009 following an initial release in 2007. Economic challenges led the guide to pause its evaluations in the city, but the recent release reflects a renewed interest in Las Vegas as a culinary destination.

Michelin’s stars are based on anonymous inspections, ensuring that the ratings reflect the current dining standards. With the new guide, Las Vegas is once again recognized as a premier city for food lovers.
