Montemar Residential Complex Redefines Coastal Architecture in Georgia

In a bold departure from typical beachfront designs, the Montemar Residential complex is reshaping the skyline of Gonio, Georgia. Rejecting conventional straight lines, this innovative project features three sculptural towers that mimic the natural curves of the Black Sea.
Designed by architects Irakli Emiridze and Irina Chkonia of Alpha Architecture, Montemar spans a 10,000 square meter site along a UNESCO-listed coastline. Each of the 16-story towers, standing between 48 and 52 meters tall, showcases a striking aluminum crown reminiscent of seashells, adding a touch of organic elegance.
The complex's balconies undulate rather than conforming to a rigid grid, creating a dynamic facade that resembles geological formations, a stark contrast to the monotonous designs of many coastal high-rises. Beneath the towers, a below-grade parking facility accommodates 300 vehicles, allowing for lush landscaping and communal spaces above.
With private terraces and jacuzzis in each apartment, Montemar aims to provide residents with unparalleled ocean views, merging luxury with accessibility. Positioned in a historic town rather than a bustling resort, Montemar's ambitious design seeks to harmonize with its surroundings rather than overshadow them, promising to elevate the Adjara coast's architectural narrative.
