Moyésoa's Eco-Lodge: A Harmonious Blend of Local Craftsmanship and Contemporary Design

By Editor • August 17, 2026 • 1 min read

Moyésoa, a burgeoning architectural studio from Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, is making waves by joining the Wallpaper* Architects’ Directory 2026, a prestigious list celebrating innovative emerging architecture.

Founded in 2024 by William Tailly and Natacha Djédjé, the studio’s name translates to ‘House of Happiness’. This philosophy permeates their work, championing a harmonious relationship between people, climate, and place. Tailly focuses on sustainable materials and earth construction, while Djédjé emphasizes landscape coherence and ecosystem development.

The duo’s latest endeavor, the Essoa Pavilion, is a stunning eco-lodge situated beside a serene lagoon. Spanning 7,500 square meters of botanical gardens, the pavilion offers an immersive residential experience. Its design draws inspiration from tropical vernacular architecture, incorporating ecological and bioclimatic principles that ensure self-sufficiency and modularity.

With features like rammed-earth walls that regulate temperature and wooden screens that facilitate natural ventilation, the pavilion embodies a seamless indoor-outdoor connection. The entire space is powered by solar energy and includes a private well, with all furniture and tableware custom-designed to reflect Ivorian craftsmanship.

Representing Côte d’Ivoire at the upcoming Pan-African Architecture Biennale in September 2026, Moyésoa's work seeks to blend local traditions with modern sensibilities, redefining regional architecture in the contemporary context.
