Packing Essentials for a Perfect Paros Getaway: A Director's Guide

For those who adore Greece as much as I do, Paros stands out as a must-visit destination. Nestled in the Cyclades, this island is famed for its scenic fishing villages, charming hotels, and delectable dining options. My initial trip to Paros took me to the vibrant village of Naousa, but this time I sought out the tranquility of the west coast, specifically the stunning new hotel, Luura, overlooking Agia Bay.
Preparing for my three-night stay, I found Luura's website a great help in curating my packing list. The hotel's aesthetic features sun-bleached stones and earthy hues, which guided my choice of attire. With an infinity pool inviting leisurely afternoons under the sun, I knew I needed plenty of swimwear and stylish cover-ups for my poolside lounging.
One of my favorite aspects of Paros is how effortlessly a day by the pool can transition into an evening of cocktails at a beach bar. Thus, I focused on packing versatile outfits that would keep me cool and comfortable throughout the day and into the night.
A standout item in my suitcase was a vibrant fuchsia shaw dress from If Only If, complemented by a matching headscarf. This timeless style, reminiscent of a chic nightgown, is perfect for hot summer days when traditional clothing feels stifling. For a more casual look, I also included a trusty linen co-ord set from Cos, which offered both comfort and style for day and evening wear.
Beach cover-ups are essential for a trip to Paros, as they serve multiple purposes—from early morning walks to lounging poolside. I packed a patterned sarong from Johanna Ortiz and a Conde Nast Traveller x H&M tee, which can easily be paired with denim shorts for a laid-back look.
As I explored the island, I found that a well-fitted swimsuit is a must-have. My Hunza G one-piece, with its stretchy fabric, has held up beautifully over the years and is perfect for both beach outings and pool dips. I also brought a chic monochrome swimsuit from Away That Day, ideal for transitioning to evening outfits.
During my evenings in Aliki, a quaint fishing village, I embraced bright, light outfits that felt effortlessly chic. My favorite was a butter-yellow maxi dress from Faithfull, which paired beautifully with casual yet stylish accessories. A reliable basket bag, like my Sezane ‘Maia’, was essential for carrying beach necessities and snacks from local bakeries, while my statement shell necklace from Julietta added a touch of flair.
Accessories played a crucial role in my packing strategy. I ensured to include a pair of quality sunglasses from Jimmy Fairly and a wide-brimmed sun hat from Avenue The Label, which could be packed away when not in use. Comfortable footwear is also vital for wandering around Paros, so I opted for minimalist leather sandals from Cos for daytime and elegant flats from Amanu for evening outings.
