Sydney Swans Players Stand Down Amid Ongoing Sexual Assault Investigation

The sexual assault scandal surrounding the Sydney Swans has taken a serious toll on two women involved, according to their attorney, John Karantzis. He reported that the women, both believed to be adult entertainers, are experiencing significant trauma and are seeking damages for pain and suffering after the incident at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne.
The controversy erupted following the Swans’ victory over Essendon, leading to five players—Isaac Heeney, Nick Blakey, Chad Warner, Riley Bice, and James Jordon—being temporarily suspended for violating club policies on drinking and curfew. This suspension occurred as police launched an investigation into allegations that one player touched a woman without consent.
Karantzis emphasized the distress faced by his clients, stating, "They’re suffering severe stress and anxiety as a result of the events occurring on Monday morning." The players, who have issued a public apology, maintain that only they were present during the incident, contradicting claims of additional individuals being involved.
Swans Captain Callum Mills expressed his disappointment, describing the actions of the players as shocking and unprecedented.
