Former President Donald Trump is set to rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Friday, backing Darline Graham in her bid to secure a Republican nomination to fill the seat of her late brother, Lindsey Graham. The primary runoff is scheduled for Tuesday, where voters will choose between Graham and Rep. Ralph Norman for the upcoming November ballot.

This campaign appearance marks a significant moment for Trump, who has been relatively inactive on the trail during this midterm cycle. South Carolina’s political landscape, which has historically leaned Republican, presents a strategic advantage as the country approaches crucial midterm elections.

The special primary was called after Lindsey Graham’s unexpected passing last month. Following this, Governor Henry McMaster appointed Darline as interim senator, an action endorsed by Trump. He referred to her appointment as a “fabulous tribute” to her brother. Trump has actively supported her campaign, previously urging her to run and expressing his backing on social media.

Darline, who has portrayed herself as a political outsider, emphasizes her commitment to Trump's agenda, focusing on issues like border security and the SAVE Act voting bill. Although she has attempted to connect with voters on everyday concerns, she recently faced scrutiny for her lack of clarity on foreign policy, stating, “National security is not my thing.” This admission has drawn mixed reactions, and Trump has not commented on it.

As both candidates gear up for the primary, the Myrtle Beach rally aims to tap into the region's strong conservative base, potentially solidifying Graham's position in a critical election.
