The United States announced on Monday a broadened set of sanctions aimed at crippling Iran's economy, while refraining from implementing the most severe penalties.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized the need for other nations to cut business ties with Iran, warning of potential exclusion from the dollar-based financial system.
However, he did not disclose which countries might be affected or when these penalties would take effect, choosing instead to give them time to comply with the new measures.
