Ukraine Faces Massive Missile and Drone Assault from Russia

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Ukraine's air force reported that Russia launched a barrage of attacks on August 20, 2026. The assault included dozens of ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles, alongside 168 drones.
Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 145 drones and a majority of cruise missiles; however, none of the ballistic missiles were shot down. The Kyiv region bore the brunt of this overnight offensive, as confirmed via the air force's Telegram updates.
