Unsettling Floods Leave Over 15 Missing in Grand Canyon

In a concerning turn of events, more than 15 individuals are unaccounted for following flash floods that hit Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona on Saturday. The National Park Service reported the floods primarily affected the Bright Angel Canyon and Phantom Ranch areas, leading to urgent evacuations.
Witnesses captured dramatic footage of the rushing, muddy waters overwhelming trails and footbridges, with debris swept along in the torrents. Around 62 people have been evacuated as search efforts continue.
Authorities noted that the floods, triggered by rainfall on the Kaibab Plateau, began around 2:30 PM. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. With more storms expected, officials are cautioning visitors about potential additional flooding.
