In recent weeks, a massive surge of 72,000 migrants attempted to cross from Morocco into Spain's Ceuta, reminiscent of earlier European migration crises. Unlike past movements driven by desperation, many of these would-be migrants are motivated by aspirations rather than dire circumstances.

Although Morocco's economy shows signs of growth, young people remain captivated by the prospect of a better life across the border. Despite 70,000 being turned away shortly after their attempt, the desire for migration persists, prompting Moroccan authorities to crack down on calls for further mass crossings.
