Amy Hunt Shines at Diamond League Final in Brussels

Amy Hunt continued her impressive late-season performance by securing a podium finish in the 200m at the Diamond League final in Brussels, clocking a season-best time of 22.16 seconds.

Finishing third, Hunt was only eight hundredths of a second away from her lifetime best, while St Lucia's Julien Alfred triumphed with a remarkable 21.79 seconds, followed closely by American Kayla White at 22.00 seconds. "I'm really really proud of that one," Hunt remarked to BBC World Service, emphasizing the quality of her performance, particularly on the bend. "That was probably one of the best bends I’ve ever done, if not the best. I could feel I was so close to Julian, then the long season kind of caught out to me in the last 20 metres."

Hunt's third-place finish marks a significant step up from her previous outings in the Diamond League finals, where she finished fifth and sixth in the 2024 and 2025 events. She is set to compete in the 100m event on Saturday, where she will face off against American Olympic silver medallist Sha'Carri Richardson. Looking ahead, Hunt also plans to participate in the inaugural Ultimate Championships in Budapest starting September 11.

In other events, Matt Hudson-Smith finished fifth in the 400m, while Jake Hayward placed eighth in a thrilling 1500m race. Australian newcomer Cameron Myers clinched victory in the 1500m, showcasing a promising rivalry with Kenyan talent Phanuel Koech.
