Child's Laptop Use Leads to Unusual Skin Condition

By Editor • September 10, 2026 • 1 min read

In a startling revelation, medical professionals have documented a case where a boy developed a rare skin condition attributed to his daily use of a laptop. This discovery raises questions about the potential physical effects of prolonged exposure to electronic devices.

According to a case report published in BMJ Case Reports, doctors Mara Znagoveanu and Edward Artley described the boy as being in mid-childhood when he presented at an emergency department with peculiar markings on his abdomen. Measuring approximately 15 centimeters in width, the rash featured a series of flat, reddish-brown interlacing lines that formed irregular circles, resembling a lace-like pattern.

The boy reported no pain or discomfort, and the rash showed no warmth or tenderness upon examination. Despite the alarming appearance, both he and his parents were unable to identify any recent injuries or trauma that could have caused the skin condition. Further examinations revealed that the boy was otherwise healthy, without any signs of illness or systemic symptoms.
