This fall, DSW is set to pilot a new retail concept named ‘The Edit,’ which aims to create a more refined shopping experience across select locations. These stores will range between 1,000 and 1,500 square feet and will feature a curated selection of affordable luxury and elevated fashion brands.
During a recent earnings call, Douglas Howe, the CEO of DSW's parent company Designer Brands Inc., shared insights on the initiative, stating that the goal is to assess customer reactions and refine the concept for future iterations. Howe emphasized the unique advantages of their business model, which merges retail operations with a wholesale brand portfolio, offering flexibility in product distribution and opportunities for growth.
Highlighted brands in this new format include Topo Athletic, Keds, Vince Camuto, Jessica Simpson, and Lucky Brand. Howe noted that Topo Athletic has shown remarkable performance, with a revenue increase exceeding 24 percent in the last quarter. The Jessica Simpson line also performed exceptionally well, with sales rising 24 percent, contributing to the overall growth in women’s dress shoes.
