Leveth Jackson, a 40-year-old resident of Chiba, expressed her frustration over a recent rent hike notice received in August. This increase marked the second consecutive rise in her apartment rent at the end of a two-year lease cycle.
Initially, her rent rose by ¥2,000 ($12.50) two years ago, and now, her landlord is proposing a ¥5,000 hike. If accepted, her rent will jump over 10% from ¥65,000 to ¥72,000.
