Gal Gadot Discusses DC's Superhero Shakeup and Cavill's Superman Exit

In a revealing conversation on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Gal Gadot shared her thoughts on the recent transitions within DC’s superhero universe, particularly regarding the abrupt exit of Henry Cavill as Superman. Gadot, known for her role as Wonder Woman, expressed concern over how the studio has managed its talent during the shift from the Zack Snyder era to the new leadership under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Gadot stated that she was assured by Gunn and Safran that they intended to develop a third Wonder Woman film with her, yet she observed how other actors, including Cavill, were treated during this transition. She lamented the lack of grace in handling Cavill's return, noting, "The Henry situation was unfortunate. I was in the middle of that. It was not handled elegantly, to say the least."

The circumstances surrounding Cavill’s return were complicated. Just before Gunn and Safran took over, Cavill announced his comeback as Superman, sharing his excitement for the character’s future. However, in December 2022, Gunn revealed plans for a new Superman movie focusing on an earlier version of the hero, effectively sidelining Cavill. Gunn himself later commented on the situation as “really unfortunate,” acknowledging the confusion surrounding the announcements.

In the midst of these challenges, Gadot also mentioned the ongoing speculation about the future of her role, with no official recast announced yet for Wonder Woman. Meanwhile, she shared a nostalgic memory of auditioning for a role in Mad Max: Fury Road alongside Tom Hiddleston, reflecting on the rigorous four-hour screen test they underwent.

Currently, Gadot is busy promoting her latest project, the thriller The Runner, available on Prime Video, where she portrays a mother facing the harrowing ordeal of her child's kidnapping.
