In what could be a major career move, comedian John Mulaney is in talks to take on the iconic role of Agent Maxwell Smart in the upcoming Warner Bros. reboot of 'Get Smart.' This news, confirmed by Variety, comes as the project is still in its infancy.

The screenplay for this reboot is being penned by Seth Grahame-Smith, known for his work on 'Now You See Me: Now You Don’t,' set to release in 2025. Producers Andrew Lazar and Chuck Roven are also on board to bring this classic spy comedy back to life.

John Mulaney's latest project as a host was in Netflix's 'Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney,' which aired in 2025. He is also gearing up for a nine-show comedy tour titled 'Mulaney Takes Manhattan' starting in January. Additionally, Mulaney is set to appear in David O. Russell’s sports biopic 'Madden,' where he will portray Trip Hawkins, the founder of Electronic Arts.
