PM Modi Celebrates Strengthened Ties Between India and France

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently declared that the relationship between India and France has ascended to unprecedented heights, emphasizing the deep-rooted cultural and political foundations binding the two nations. Speaking virtually during the inauguration of the Swaminarayan temple in Paris, he expressed optimism that this grand temple will endure as a lasting symbol of collaboration and opportunity.

Modi highlighted the evolving partnership between India and France, particularly in areas like technology, artificial intelligence, defense, space, and climate action. He stated, "Together with my friend, President Emmanuel Macron, both nations are building a Special Global Strategic Partnership." Moreover, he announced that 2026 would be celebrated as the India-France Year of Innovation, further enhancing the strategic alliance.

Reflecting on the historical ties, Modi recalled the sacrifices of Indian soldiers in France and acknowledged the influence of French scholars in promoting Sanskrit. He noted the contributions of Romain Rolland in bridging cultural gaps and the spiritual journey of 'The Mother' from Paris to Puducherry, which has inspired many seekers. He also mentioned that yoga has become a vital link between the two countries, with the Eiffel Tower serving as a backdrop for International Yoga Day celebrations in France.
