PM Shehbaz Imposes Two-Hour Loadshedding Limit Amid Energy Crisis

In a decisive move to address the escalating energy crisis, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has mandated that no area in Pakistan should endure electricity load shedding for more than two hours. This directive came during a meeting focused on electricity load management, where the Prime Minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the current state of power outages across the nation.

The meeting, which included key government officials such as Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Power Minister Sardar Awais Leghari, highlighted the challenges posed by a reduction in electricity generation due to international tensions affecting regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) supplies. Specifically, ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and the strategic Strait of Hormuz have significantly impacted the availability of RLNG, leading to an imbalance in supply and demand.

To tackle the supply chain issues head-on, PM Shehbaz has called for immediate action to optimize all available resources to meet electricity demands. Additionally, he has instructed the establishment of Consumer Grievance Redressal Committees within a week to handle public complaints regarding power supply disruptions, ensuring that local representatives are included in these committees to foster accountability and transparency.
