Shaun Leane Unveils Exclusive Atelier Focusing on 12 Unique Pieces Annually

Renowned jewellery designer Shaun Leane is embarking on a transformative journey in his artistic career with the establishment of a new commission-only atelier, aptly titled 12. This innovative venture will produce only twelve exclusive pieces each year, emphasizing a deliberate and reflective design process.
Leane, who began his illustrious career 44 years ago as an apprentice in Hatton Garden, is known for his avant-garde creations that celebrate craftsmanship. His collaboration with the late Lee Alexander McQueen produced iconic pieces that defined a generation. However, after spending significant time in the serene landscapes of rural Ireland, Leane has decided to step away from the fast-paced luxury market, which he feels often compromises the artistry of his work.
“Luxury, to me, has always meant rarity,” Leane stated, highlighting his belief that true luxury encompasses not just the materials used but also the time and attention devoted to each creation. The first piece from his new atelier, a stone headstone in memory of his late father, illustrates this philosophy beautifully, integrating intricate designs and personal significance. Other commissioned works, such as a couture collar for Daphne Guinness, reflect a deep commitment to heritage techniques and skilled craftsmanship, ensuring that these pieces will become treasured heirlooms.
