China's Chang’e-7 Mission Aims for Lunar Ice Discovery

China is set to embark on its most advanced lunar mission yet with the launch of Chang’e-7, aimed at uncovering frozen water in the moon's shadowy south pole craters.
The uncrewed mission will deploy a robotic lander, rover, and a hopping probe to explore one of the solar system's frigid locales. This initiative marks a significant stride towards China's ambition of establishing a permanent human presence on the moon, including plans for a crewed landing by 2030 and a collaborative research station with Russia by 2035.
Chang’e-7 is scheduled to launch from Hainan's Wenchang Space Launch Site atop a Long March 5 rocket, equipped with scientific tools like water analyzers and cameras.
