DenimNotes Revolutionizes Denim Supply Chain Management

By Editor • August 24, 2026 • 1 min read

Umer Farooq, former head of marketing and sales at Neela Blue, has launched DenimNotes, a platform aimed at tackling inefficiencies in the denim supply chain. In an industry that thrives on tactile interactions, textile trade shows often leave buyers overwhelmed with choices and information. Farooq recognized that the traditional methods of communication—scattered across emails, WhatsApp, and casual conversations—were hindering productivity.

DenimNotes addresses this issue by centralizing communication among buyers, mills, and garment makers, allowing for seamless information sharing. Buyers can now utilize real-time voice notes, optical character recognition to extract key details from hang tags, and even create mood boards. For mills, the platform provides essential tracking features, logging sample selections and price discussions, which are crucial for assessing return on investment.

The need for this tool is evident. Lorenzo Peri, the denim product development manager at Guess, noted that DenimNotes became indispensable after he experienced the gap it filled in his workflow. Similarly, Kenneth Bennetzen from Bestseller's Only brand praised the platform for enhancing transparency and traceability in sourcing.

Farooq also emphasized how DenimNotes captures vital insights that often fade when experienced employees leave. New hires can easily access historical information about client discussions and sample developments, streamlining onboarding processes.

As he continues onboarding brands and mills, Farooq envisions incorporating AI to tailor fabric recommendations based on specific brand parameters. His ultimate goal is to foster a collaborative marketplace that minimizes supply chain inefficiencies, benefiting all stakeholders involved. By enabling brands to refine their offerings through real-time feedback, DenimNotes is set to transform how the denim industry operates.
