Swedish startup eComID has successfully raised $17 million in funding, a significant boost for its plans to expand internationally. The company aims to enhance the AI shopping experience through its innovative "shopping passports," which provide AI agents with essential context about individual consumers, including their sizes and preferences.
Oscar Rundqvist, co-founder and CEO, emphasized the importance of context in AI, stating, "AI without context still starts from zero. The best shopping experience should feel like walking into a store that already knows how to help." Since its inception in 2024, eComID has collaborated with over 60 brands and now reaches 20 million shoppers monthly. Notably, the platform has contributed to a 30% reduction in return rates for consumers and up to a 10% increase in conversion rates for brands like COS and J.Lindeberg.
The funding round, led by London-based Systemiq Capital, will enable eComID to enhance its sizing and discovery capabilities, expand its team, and accelerate its global rollout. Gemma Bloemen from Systemiq Capital remarked on the structural challenges in digital commerce, asserting that eComID is positioned to become a key player in intelligent commerce.
