Runable Secures $21 Million to Propel AI Growth for Small Businesses

By Editor • August 26, 2026 • 2 min read

Runable, a burgeoning Indian startup, is making waves in the AI landscape with a fresh funding round of $21 million aimed at expanding its capabilities beyond just building websites and applications. The Series A investment was co-led by Susquehanna Venture Capital and Nexus Venture Partners, with contributions from existing investors Together Fund and Array VC. Following the investment, Runable's valuation stands at $65 million, as shared by co-founder and CEO Umesh Kumar in an exclusive TechCrunch interview.

Founded in 2025, Runable is setting its sights on small businesses, operating in a competitive field that includes AI heavyweights like Anthropic and OpenAI. Unlike many platforms focusing solely on software development, Runable's unique proposition lies in its AI agent, which assists businesses in customer acquisition, ad campaign management, and overall growth strategies across various digital platforms.

Kumar emphasizes the practical outcomes that businesses crave, stating, "A business doesn’t require Codex or Claude Code or anything. They require real outcomes." He highlights how Runable can provide services at a lower cost compared to traditional agencies, aiming to transform how small businesses approach their marketing needs.

Initially launched as an AI infrastructure company focused on data scraping, Runable pivoted to become a general-purpose AI agent after recognizing user demand for content creation tools. This strategic shift led to an impressive growth trajectory, achieving a $2 million annualized revenue run rate within just three weeks of implementing payment options. Now, Runable's platform allows users to generate websites, applications, presentations, and more through simple natural language prompts.

Runable's expansion into the 'growth' segment means it is now tackling ad campaigns, social media management, and search engine optimization, streamlining the process for business owners who need to attract customers efficiently. With about 1.7 million registered users, the startup has its largest markets in the U.S., UK, and Japan, with expectations for Japan to become a leading market shortly.

Despite its rapid growth, Runable faces challenges, particularly in achieving profitability as it currently operates with negative gross margins due to subsidized AI usage for customers. However, Kumar is optimistic about the future, noting the potential for significant reductions in inference costs, which could enhance the company's economic viability.

As the competition intensifies with major AI players developing their own agents, Runable aims to maintain its edge by offering comprehensive solutions that encompass not just customer acquisition but also all the necessary infrastructure to support it. Kumar views the startup's main competitors as general-purpose agents like Manus and Genspark, but believes Runable’s focus on growth and customer outreach sets it apart in the crowded AI market.
