Escalating Tensions: Yemen Risks Full-Scale War Amid New Attacks

Yemen is on the brink of a return to full-scale conflict as government forces launched 81 attacks against Houthi positions within a single day. Government spokesperson Majed Abdullah al-Nuzaili reported that these strikes resulted in the neutralization of several Houthi fighters and field commanders.
In retaliation, the Houthis executed drone strikes targeting Saudi Arabia’s Najran province, successfully hitting both the Najran airport and an Aramco facility, according to their military spokesperson Yahya Saree. Saudi Arabia has not yet confirmed these attacks.
The situation is further complicated by warnings from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which supports the Houthis, stating that Saudi Arabia may struggle to contain the escalating conflict. The Houthis have intensified their operations against Saudi infrastructure since declaring a naval blockade in July.
As fighting escalates, with hundreds of operations reported in the past month, UN officials have urged both sides to refrain from actions that could plunge Yemen back into widespread violence. Currently, at least 18 million Yemenis are facing food insecurity, highlighting the urgent need for peace.
