ICE Reports Record Arrests in July Amid Policy Changes

In July, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) apprehended 49,571 individuals, marking the highest monthly total since President Trump began his second term. This figure represents a 15% increase from June and a staggering 70% rise compared to February.

The surge in arrests follows a period of reduced enforcement after protests in response to two deadly shootings in Minnesota. However, after remaining stagnant, arrests jumped significantly in June and continued to rise in July.

Notably, nearly 20,000 arrests occurred in Texas and Florida, states that have implemented 287(g) agreements, allowing local law enforcement to assist in immigration enforcement efforts.
