Iran's President Acknowledges Struggles Amid New Sanctions

By Editor • August 23, 2026 • 1 min read

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has voiced deep concerns over the challenges faced by the nation following the latest round of U.S. sanctions. He described the situation as one of "many problems" that are affecting the Iranian populace.

During a televised address, Pezeshkian attributed these issues to what he characterized as a "full-scale economic, military and security war" initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump. The new sanctions aim to further isolate Iran's economy and are set to be detailed by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday.

As protests fueled by economic distress have escalated in recent years, Pezeshkian reiterated the government's commitment to addressing inflation, unemployment, and the overall well-being of citizens. He stated, "We are striving with all our hearts to overcome inflation, livelihood problems, unemployment, and to secure the future of the people." The ongoing unrest has reportedly resulted in thousands of deaths, with officials blaming foreign interference for the violence.
