Mystery Surrounds U.S. Military Plane Arrival in Moscow

A U.S. military transport aircraft made an unexpected landing at Moscow's Vnukovo airport on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, according to flight tracking data from Flightradar24.
The Boeing Globemaster, with registration number 07-7181, traveled directly from Riga, Latvia, arriving around 0700 GMT. However, it remains unclear whether the plane was carrying any cargo or passengers.
This aircraft had previously arrived in Riga from the U.S. Camp Springs airbase on August 23. The last U.S. jet to fly directly to Russia from Europe was in January, facilitating discussions involving special envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner regarding Ukraine.
