Ukraine Launches Major Drone Assault, Resulting in Multiple Fatalities in Russia

In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, Ukraine executed a large-scale drone offensive on August 16, 2026, leading to the deaths of at least six individuals across various locations in Russia.
The attack specifically impacted the Rostov region, where local authorities reported five fatalities as three towns were struck. Additionally, an 83-year-old man lost his life when a drone targeted his home in the Moscow area.
Russia's Defense Ministry claimed it intercepted 822 drones, noting that around 600 of these were directed toward the capital.
