Record Levels of Chinese Vessel Sightings Near Taiwan for Third Consecutive Month

The waters surrounding Taiwan have witnessed an unprecedented surge in activity from mainland Chinese vessels, marking the third month in a row that these sightings have reached new heights.
According to Taiwan's defense ministry, from August 1 to August 24, there were 118 detections of Chinese coastguard, survey, and other official ships. This figure exceeds the 117 sightings recorded in July and 111 in June.
This escalation follows Beijing's decision to enhance its maritime presence in the region, particularly after the announcement of maritime boundary discussions between Tokyo and Manila in late May.
