Hailing from Iceland but based in Vejle, Denmark, Ludvik's diverse training as a carpenter, cabinetmaker, and sculptor culminated in the creation of a chair that conceals its folding mechanism within the backrest. This ingenious feature allows the chair to collapse with a simple rotation, requiring only one hand, while maintaining a clean, unobtrusive appearance.
The Backflip is crafted from solid lacquered beech wood and molded plywood, emphasizing simplicity over decoration. It is available in various finishes, making it suitable for both private homes and commercial spaces. Complementing the chair is a matching wall bracket, allowing for efficient storage without compromising style.
Previewed at the 2026 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, the Backflip stood out among other designs, illustrating Ludvik's belief that a well-designed chair should prioritize comfort first, with the folding feature as a secondary consideration.
