Hamilton Admits Defeat in Championship Chase Following Italian GP

By Editor • September 6, 2026 • 1 min read

Lewis Hamilton has officially acknowledged that his hopes of clinching the Formula One world title this season have all but faded after a challenging Italian Grand Prix at Monza. The Brit finished in sixth place, a position that came after a contentious incident involving his Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc.

The race, which saw Kimi Antonelli emerge victorious despite starting from 19th position, highlighted the operational issues within Hamilton's team. He expressed frustration over what he perceives as a lack of strategic support from Ferrari chief Fred Vasseur in managing race dynamics and prioritizing drivers' championship aspirations.

With the standings now showing Hamilton trailing Antonelli by 76 points and only ten races left in the season, the veteran driver feels that missed opportunities and team mismanagement have ultimately derailed his championship campaign.
