Pakistan Commemorates Defence Day with a Focus on National Unity and Regional Security

On September 6, Pakistan marked its 61st Defence and Martyrs’ Day, a significant occasion that honors the sacrifices made during the 1965 war against India. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Zardari emphasized the nation's evolving role in regional security, reflecting on the lessons of history and the importance of unity in the face of adversity.

The day commenced with a ceremonial 31-gun salute in Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals, alongside a change of guards at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in Karachi.
